Billing

Global Watch offers flexible billing options to match your organization's needs. This guide covers subscription plans, usage-based billing, and payment management.

Overview

Global Watch billing includes:

  • Subscription Plans - Different tiers with varying features
  • Per-Seat Pricing - Pay for each team member
  • Usage-Based Billing - Charges based on managed hectares
  • Transparent Pricing - Clear visibility into costs

Billing Models

Per-Seat Pricing

Pay for each active team member:

  • Charged monthly or annually
  • Automatic adjustment when members are added/removed
  • Discounts available for annual billing

Usage-Based Billing

Pay based on managed forest area:

  • Calculated from project geometry
  • Measured in hectares
  • Updated when project boundaries change
  • Billed at the end of each billing cycle

Usage is calculated from the total area of all active projects. Archived projects don't count toward usage.

Choosing a Plan

Consider these factors:

  1. Team Size - How many members need access?
  2. Project Volume - How many projects will you manage?
  3. Area Coverage - Total hectares across all projects
  4. Support Needs - Level of support required
  5. Integration Requirements - API and custom integration needs

Managing Subscriptions

Viewing Current Plan

  1. Navigate to SettingsBilling
  2. View your current plan details:
    • Plan name and tier
    • Billing cycle (monthly/annual)
    • Next billing date
    • Current usage

Upgrading Your Plan

To upgrade:

  1. Go to SettingsBilling
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select the new plan
  4. Review the price difference
  5. Confirm the upgrade

Upgrades take effect immediately. You'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing cycle.

Downgrading Your Plan

To downgrade:

  1. Go to SettingsBilling
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select the lower tier
  4. Review any feature limitations
  5. Confirm the downgrade

Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. Ensure your usage fits within the new plan limits.

Canceling Subscription

To cancel:

  1. Go to SettingsBilling
  2. Click Cancel Subscription
  3. Provide feedback (optional)
  4. Confirm cancellation

What happens when you cancel:

  • Access continues until the end of the billing period
  • Data is retained for 30 days after expiration
  • You can reactivate at any time
  • Export your data before cancellation

Payment Methods

Adding Payment Method

  1. Go to SettingsBillingPayment Methods
  2. Click Add Payment Method
  3. Enter card details:
    • Card number
    • Expiration date
    • CVV
    • Billing address
  4. Click Save

Supported Payment Methods

  • Credit Cards - Visa, Mastercard, American Express
  • Debit Cards - Most major debit cards
  • Bank Transfer - Available for Enterprise plans

Updating Payment Method

  1. Go to Payment Methods
  2. Click Edit on the existing method
  3. Update the details
  4. Save changes

Removing Payment Method

  1. Go to Payment Methods
  2. Click Remove on the method
  3. Confirm removal

You must have at least one valid payment method to maintain an active subscription.

Invoices and Receipts

Viewing Invoices

  1. Go to SettingsBillingInvoices
  2. View all past invoices
  3. Each invoice shows:
    • Invoice number
    • Date
    • Amount
    • Status (paid, pending, failed)

Downloading Invoices

  1. Find the invoice in the list
  2. Click Download PDF
  3. Save for your records

Invoice Details

Each invoice includes:

  • Subscription charges
  • Per-seat charges
  • Usage-based charges
  • Taxes (if applicable)
  • Total amount

Usage Tracking

Viewing Usage

Monitor your usage in real-time:

  1. Go to SettingsBillingUsage
  2. View current usage:
    • Active team members
    • Active projects
    • Total managed hectares

Usage Alerts

Set up alerts for usage thresholds:

  1. Go to UsageAlerts
  2. Configure alert thresholds:
    • 75% of limit
    • 90% of limit
    • 100% of limit
  3. Choose notification method (email, in-app)

Usage History

View historical usage data:

  • Monthly usage trends
  • Peak usage periods
  • Growth patterns

Billing Permissions

Who Can Access Billing

Only users with billing.manage permission can:

  • View billing information
  • Change subscription plans
  • Update payment methods
  • Download invoices

Granting Billing Access

  1. Go to Members
  2. Find the member
  3. Assign a role with billing.manage permission
  4. Or create a custom role with billing access

Tax Information

Tax Exemption

If your organization is tax-exempt:

  1. Go to SettingsBillingTax Info
  2. Upload tax exemption certificate
  3. Enter tax ID number
  4. Submit for verification

Tax Invoices

For tax compliance:

  • All invoices include tax details
  • Tax rates based on billing address
  • VAT/GST handled automatically for applicable regions

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Payment failed

  • Verify card details are correct
  • Check available credit/balance
  • Contact your bank if declined
  • Try a different payment method

Invoice not received

  • Check spam/junk folder
  • Verify email address in settings
  • Download directly from billing portal

Usage seems incorrect

  • Review active projects
  • Check project geometries
  • Verify archived projects aren't counted
  • Contact support for clarification

Cannot access billing

  • Verify you have billing.manage permission
  • Contact your account owner
  • Check if subscription is active
